Discovering "Colonial Doorstop"

Anyone who is replacing baseboard in their home (or for those on Hornby Island, or for those on Halkin Cres, installing for the first time) this is good to know. Our decorator for this reno project suggested that instead of the usual "quarter round" for hiding the gaps between the laminate flooring and the baseboards, we use something called Colonial Doorstop instead. And wow does it look sharp. Here are some pics ...

... pretty sweet. The renovations are coming along, well, actually they're done ... I think I'm just in a state of denial. The only significant outstanding job is the installation of the kitchen countertop. We may have to use plywood for a bit. We'll have more info soon. And we'll post some pics of the kitchen soon too. Tonight is the last night any of us will sleep here in Pickering. Could be a sad day tomorrow when leaving daycare. They are both pretty excited but we'll see what happens at 5pm.

Ya, that stuff DOES look pretty sharp. Is it a 1 piece kinda thing? Come in 10 ft lengths?

Wow! nice job. I like the bright white baseboards because I can easily fill in my screwed up mitre joints with caulk.

Doug - actually the cool part is that it's 2 pieces. It consists of your regular baseboard, and then instead of quarterround, they used this 'colonial doorstop' stuff at the bottom. Same as quarterround, it's used just to cover up the gap left from the crappy laminate installation job (previous owner).

Scott - our decorator would be so heartbroken, as it is in fact not bright white (contrary to my request) but some silly colour name like 'dove white'. Still turned out pretty sweet though.
