Task #1: New Kitchen

Once we finish our garage sale tomorrow morning, and an appearance for Emma at a birthday party, we head west again for another brief window of opportunity to get some work done. Saturday night we'll spend at Ikea arranging for our new kitchen as well as some closet contraption of some sort for our room and Ethan's room, and a dresser for Emma, and a buffet for the dining room. Here are some pics of the current kitchen.

(This is just the one side of the kitchen) It's not that the kitchen is hideous. It's that we are very limited on storage in this new house, so we need to make us of every possible inch of space, so we're removing the bulkheads up above, and installing much taller cabinets. And we're going to relocate the fridge to the other side, and fill this in with more cupboards and countertop. We like the idea of being able to design our own kitchen, and at a price like $3400 it was too hard to pass up.

So then on Sunday we'll continue shopping to determine appliances, (selling the ones in the pic) Hey, what would it cost to ship these out to you Doug? Where was I, oh yah, carpet choice for the upstairs, window quotes, paint choices, blah blah blah. At least it looks like we have ourselves a contactor. We meet "Rick" on Sunday afternoon before we head back to A&W's for mother's day dinner and to see our precious children after a long day of bickering.

Aaron's going to kill me if I don't get some packing done or some garage sale signs for tomorrow. I'm on vacation today and not getting much done. Later. ~Jill
