After a load of clothes came out of the washer with some black streaks, we knew that the reoccurring problem with the boot was back. The rubber gasket, LG calls it a boot, seems to collect mold and scum on the underside, and when a sweater happens to wedge its way into one of the scummy folds of the boot, Presto! Instant ruined-streaked sweater.
I had replaced the whole boot about two years ago, and this time we just said screw it, and bought a new much bigger machine. You can bet we took a long hard look at the boots on the new machines as we are now experts in the boot-scum field.
Just so you know what we're talking about, here's some shots. Everyone say eeeeeuuuuuw...

The new machine comes on Thursday. Anyone think that we have a case against LG?

LG didn't do *anything*??
Yikes!
Worth looking into - if you have the energy. We're in the early stages of doing the same with Envirolet composting toilet systems... Others are taking on the challenge, we're just providing photos and back up.
