Year of the Yard

With Aaron being out of work ... sorry ... between contracts (he recently landed a 12month one that starts mid-June) we decided now is the time to do some of the work we've been talking about. This picture probably needs an explanation first. The circle is where our pool was last summer, and the rectangle is from the icerink. Interesting how beneficial the huge plastic tarp was. If only you could do that to your entire lawn each winter to get these results!

Anyway, we purchased a new shed, saving ourselves $150 by travelling 50mins to the States to buy it instead of down the road (thanks again for the truck Paul!), so Aaron has removed the old shed. Our next door neighbour expressed interest, so Aaron proceeded to remove one of the fence sections, carry the shed with the help of another neighbour through the opening and then screw the section back into place upon completion. Heather & I both thought it would result in a scene for America's Funniest Videos but we were quite wrong. So old shed is gone and new shed is up beside the house.
In place of the old shed we decided it's a good spot to start our very own vegetable garden. As this entire area of Burlington is overrun with rabbits, we'll have to come up with a bunny proof solution at some point.
I'll try to remember to post some 'after' shots and hopefully we'll be able to consume our hard work in the near future. I took today off so Aaron & I could do a round of golf, in this beautiful sunny/15 degree weather. It was fantastic. Better go help with some more transplanting, weeding, etc.
