Thanksgiving Centrepiece

We had Aaron's family for dinner on Sunday, and had ourselves an awesome 10 pound capon roasting chicken! Wicked! Aaron made 95% of the meal and did a fantastic job. He even put strips of bacon on top of the chicken to ensure the juiciest breast meat. I can hear your drool. A couple of years ago we started a family tradition where we go outside at Thanksgiving and collect some special things to make our own centrepiece for the table. The days leading up to Sunday were quite wet so I didn't know what to expect, but Uncle Dan & Emma ventured out anyway. Surprisingly it turned out quite nice, complete with a slightly painted 1x2! (Emma thought it was a lovely stick). Here is the result ...

Hope everyone else had a great Thanksgiving. The chicken meal was actually our 2nd big meal of the weekend, beginning with Mom's ham dinner on the Friday night. Aunt Marilyn was visiting the Burlington area so Mom filled the house (I mean FILLED!) with lots (I mean LOTS!) of friends and relatives and we all stuffed ourselves silly. Great to see you again Marilyn ... sorry I forgot to say goodbye. :-)

Wow, You sure did it up well. It was great to see your family in your new home and share that wonderful time with everyone on Friday night. Good luck working at home and continued good healing.

I'm gonna be a big person here and defer to either Scott or Doug to wreak havoc with comments about bacon & breasts.

Besides, Heather prefers a leaner garnish.

To be exact there were 30 kids and adults here on the Friday night of Thanksgiving weekend (all for Marilyn) and we had a blast. Lots of noise and laughter. We must do it more often maybe for Xmas.
